*********

For years my friends have encouraged me to start a restaurant or just asked me to cook for them. And for years I have dismissed the idea, thinking they were just being kind and that having a restaurant has got to be one of the most difficult things to handle. Then I moved to Buenos Aires and the longing for aromas and flavors of my childhood became too much to bear. These ghosts have led me to a compromise: a closed door restaurant.

For now, I am calling this culinary project "A Little Saigon" because that is what I am offering. The recipes are mostly from memories of my parents cooking at home. I don't claim to be a chef, so no worries that the food will be "fusion" or "influenced" in any way. I am simply offering pure Vietnamese food, my home, and new friends with whom to enjoy this experience.

I hope to open my home once a month to 8-10 people who also love Vietnamese food and would like to try my dishes. Each month will feature a different entree. Only 1 dish will be served, because that's how the Vietnamese do it. Feel free to bring wine to share in exchange for a small discount. Also, appetizers and dessert will be served.
